TAG: How much is your face worth?

I’ve really enjoyed reading these posts lately! So, here is my version – I have a horrible feeling that it’s really going to shock me! I’ll do this for my usual everyday look now, but it might be interesting to see how much more expensive it is on a night out!

Face

Simple Kind to Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser: £3.79
Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream: £6.99
Benefit The POREfessional: £23.50
YSL Touche Eclat in 2: £25
Benefit Erase Paste in No2 Medium: £19.50
Benefit Sun Beam: £18.50
Benefit Benetint: £24.50

Eyes

Benefit Smokin’ Eyes: £28.50
BareMinerals Prime Time Brightening Eyelid Primer: £16
Urban Decay Naked2 Palette: £36
Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner: £7.99
Maybelline Colossal Volum Express Mascara: £7.99

Lips

Simple Kind to Lips Intensive Lip Moisturiser: (I got this in a set, so I’m going to estimate around £1.50)
I also use Benetint on my lips when I want a bit of colour!

Total: £219.76

I’m slightly horrified at this total! I always thought I didn’t use that much make-up, but looking at it listed here, it’s actually a fair amount! Think I need to ban myself from buying any more Benefit products, this seems to be where the most expensive stuff is! In fairness however, most of these things I have bought on offer, or have in sample sizes, so I probably won’t have actually spent the full amount on them (pheww).

My total on a night out would probably be around £300 as I use more eyeshadow, lip colour and also my Clarins Beauty Flash Balm.

It’s been really fun doing this, hope you enjoyed reading it! I’m tagging SmokeyBlush, and hope to see her version soon! 🙂 x

First Beauty Haul!

I’ve been incredibly happy to finally get to shop in the past week! I was going to do a series of reviews of products I’ve bought, but it was suggested that I did a haul overview first. I think this is actually my first one! I also ordered my first Glossybox which I’m mega excited to get!

1. Maybelline Dream Fresh BB in Medium: £7.99

This is the BB cream I reviewed on my last post (see here) but in a shade darker! So hopefully it wont make me look a bit more tanned. I’ve also been out wearing it since my review, and I’m pleased to say it gives a flawless looking photo finish! The foundation that I would usually wear makes me glow white in pictures usually, so I’ll definitely be using the Maybelline BB cream in the future.

2. Maybelline le Colossal Volum Express Mascara: £7.99

This mascara is actually a repurchase: I originally had this a couple of years ago. I loved it. It dried out. I moved onto a different brand and forgot about it. But there was an offer in Superdrug (still is I think!) on 2 for £10, so thought I may as well go for it! And I still love it just as much as before.

3. bareMinerals Prime Time Brightening Eyelid Primer: £12

This was the first thing I have ordered from feelunique.com! I needed an eye primer, and figured as it was on sale, I’d give it a go! I found this quite disappointing if I’m honest. On one hand, it DID keep my make up on all night (a rare feat I will admit) and I’m tempted to keep it because of this. However, I didn’t really get the clue from the ‘brightening’ that it was actually white. And didn’t really fade. This wasn’t too much of a problem for my eyelid, but it did show through my eyeliner on the bottom lashes, which I’m not really a fan of.

4. bareMinerals Eyecolour in ‘Beautiful Autumn’: £10.50

I have been excited to get this colour for a while now. Every time I went into Debenhams, I would go and swatch it but they NEVER had it in stock 😦 so I got it from feelunique.com instead. This was harder to apply than expected (I used the double ended Urban Decay brush from the Naked2 Palette) but it did give a gorgeous colour and really brightened up my eyes.

5. Illamasqua Powder Eyeshadow in ‘Machine’: £8

I bought this from the sale on ASOS on a whim. I did blend with the Beautiful Autumn colour on the outer corner of my eye, but it takes quite a lot of colour for it to actually stay put. It’s a dark grey-black colour with a hint of sparkle, but just comes across quite light grey when applied: this is my first experience with Illamasqua eyeshadow and I was quite disappointed. But I am going to persevere and try it out with a really smokey eye, so I’ll let you know the results.

6. Nspa Body Lotion in Jojoba and White Jasmine: £1

Aaaaaand finally – this was on sale in Asda for just 1 pound! I bought my friend some Nspa products for her birthday and they smelled so gorgeous, I just had to buy myself this. It is the smaller size (75ml) but I have quite a lot of other body butters and lotions to use up, so I’m going to carry this around in my bag to combat winter dry skin!

So that’s it for my first haul! Hope you liked it, and if any of you have any other products to recommend, I’d be happy to hear it! You can follow me on GFC at laurasbeautyheaven.blogspot.co.uk

Review: Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream!

Hey! Time for another make-up review, and what better than BB cream now that we’re going into autumn. I always get sad about my fading tan at this time of year and some of you may know that I don’t really wear foundation much (cue gasps of shock from the beauty community)! However, I have been trying out BB creams lately as a lighter alternative: I received some samples of the L’Oreal Revitalift Repair 10 BB cream but I wasn’t really a big fan to be honest – the tone was a bit orange-y for me, and I don’t have any wrinkles to smooth!

So, for a more fresh feel, I also got sent a few samples of Maybelline ‘Dream Fresh BB Cream’. I’ve tried the Maybelline Dream Matt Mousse foundation a few years ago, so thought I’d give something else from the range a go!

I love the feel of putting this on, it’s really moisturizing and also has SPF 30 so really would have been ideal if I’d discovered it earlier in the summer! I got sent samples in the shade ‘fair’ which I feel is a little bit light for my skin in the summer. However, it applies really easily and has pretty good coverage compared to the other creams I have tried so far. I go pretty freckly when I’ve been out in the sun, even though in the winter they disappear. This covered them quite well, and left my skin feeling smooth for the whole day. I did use it with a moisturiser, so that probably made it a little better to apply, but generally am really happy with it!

The only little problem I have noticed is that this morning, my skin has broken out a little, but I’m trying to determine if it’s just from all the junk I’ve eaten lately! If my skin improves, I’ll definitely be repurchasing this: with a price tag of £7.99 it’s worth a buy and a little bit goes a long way!

It’s the only thing I have on my face, so excuse the bare eyes! But it covers my freckles almost completely (should have thought to do a ‘before’ pic really!).

So that’s it, hope you’ve enjoyed it! I’ve been a bit lax on beauty blogging lately, but I’m happy to report exciting things coming up! I’m hopefully booking tickets to a ‘Girls Day Out’ event in Manchester, so I’m hoping to pick up a lot of exciting things there! Plus, as a payday treat, I’ve also ordered a bareMinerals eyeshadow and eye primer, so that will probably be my next review!

Please leave any suggestions in the comments below, I would be happy to hear, and hope everybody is enjoying the start of September!

Beauty Review: Benefit Primer/Highlighter Set!

I was incredibly excited when I found this on ASOS as I don’t think that they do it on the Benefit website (www.benefitcosmetics.co.uk). You get the ‘That Gal primer for £21.50 (same pricing as Benefit) but they also include sample sizes of both Porefessional and Sun Beam. So you’re getting a lot more for your money PLUS it’s free delivery. I also used my student discount so I think I got this set for around £19.35 – bargain! I was ridiculously excited for it arriving, and I wasn’t disappointed.

It came in the cutest little box which made me stupidly happy! You can tell I’ve never ordered from the Benefit website before, I’m like a little kid! But gift boxes do really make me feel special.  I’m going to skip talking about the Porefessional – on my very first post (What’s in my Make-up Bag, linked here if you fancy a read) I talked about this a little, as I do think it smooths out my pores quite well. This coming with the set didn’t really discourage me though – I’ve almost run out of my full size tube so I figured that this would put off buying another for a little while!

I’ve been dying to get this for  a long time now and I’m glad to say it doesn’t disappoint. It’s appearance reminds me a little of the ‘Girl Meets Pearl’ highlighter and I love the silky feel it gives my skin. I feel like I could even use this on its own to brighten my complexion a little on the (many) days I don’t want to put loads of foundation on. The only time I’ve tried it I did have to use the Porefesesional around my nose to take away any shine, but they do complement each other because they’re both so lightweight.

I hadn’t heard much about Sun Beam before I bought it but I’m a complete convert! I have the sample size Girl Meets Pearl which has lasted me pretty well so far, and also the YSL Touche Eclat stick, but I think this could work out even better. The sample size looks pretty small but (as with all Benefit products) it seems like you get loads of product so it will really last. I blended this down the bridge of my nose, along my cheekbones and under each brow. It gave me a really lovely subtle glow: I actually much preferred this colour to the more pink shimmer of Girl Meets Pearl or High Beam. The more gold-bronze colour highlights what is left of my holiday tan, and when this runs out I’ll definitely be purchasing a full sized bottle. After getting this set for That Gal, I actually think Sun Beam is going to be the standout product for me!

I hope you enjoyed this! It’s a little different for me, but I’ve been crazy for make up recently! I also bought an Illamasqua eyeshadow at the same time as this, so if you guys enjoyed it I’ll be back reviewing that too! I’m also loving the look of the Urban Decay ‘Smoked’ Palette so if any of you have it and would like to recommend it, let me know! Thanks for reading!

What’s in my Make-Up Bag!

So, I thought I’d do something simple for my first proper post! I’ve seen a lot of these kind of things on YouTube, but as there’s no way I could talk to a camera for 10 minutes without coming across as a stammering fool, I thought I’d try it on here. I don’t wear that much make-up day-to-day, so it’s quite minimal.

Benefit – the POREfessional Primer.

I don’t really tend to use foundation on a daily basis: it seems like no matter how much prep I do to my skin beforehand, I never seem to like the effect or feeling of wearing loads of make up. So, for everyday wear, I really love this stuff. I’ve almost used up the whole tube now, but it’s lasted absolutely ages with me using it pretty much every day so it’s definitely worth it. For £23.50, you get a really soft feeling finish and it’s great for removing shine from the skin.

Benefit – Erase Paste (No.2 medium)

I have to be honest, I was never a really big fan of this – it came in a set with the POREfessional and the Girl Meets Pearl, and it was always a bit too dark for my skin. However, since I’ve been away on holiday I finally have a bit of a tan, so it’s great for covering up dark shadows and slight blemishes.

Benefit – Benetint

This is the first product that Benefit ever released, and definitely one of their best. Just a couple of strokes on the apple of your cheek gives you a beautiful rosy flush that lasts a really long time. I also use this as a lip tint, as glosses and lipsticks just get on my nerves no end, and it lasts for a good few hours.

Benefit – Girl Meets Pearl

This was the final item I got in the set, and I use this pretty much every day as well. I smear it on my cheekbones, and also just a tiny dab on my temples and it gives a really amazing glow that lots of people seem to comment on when I wear it. It has a really gorgeous shimmer to it and feels gorgeous to put on.

YSL – Touche Eclat (No.2)

I’ve been a massive fan of this for a while now: my mum actually brought it back for me and my sister from a Duty Free and it lives up to the hype in my opinion. I’ve neglected it a bit at the moment as I’ve been giving the Benefit stuff a go, but I really love this as a concealer as well as highlighter. Usually when I’d apply it, I’d put a little down the bridge of my nose, under my eyebrows and along my cheekbones. I’ve also found that putting a little around your lips really makes them stand out.

Maybelline – Eye Studio Gel Liner in Black

I am literally obsessed with this. I’ve been using pencil eyeliner for years and they smudge so bad, and usually come off within a couple of hours. This stays on perfectly and its pretty easy to get a good line. I’ve had it since October last year, used it every single day and it has barely gone down. Bargain and amazing buy.

Clarins – Instant definition Mascara

I’ve started using this recently; it came as a small sample size in a big gift bag I got. It seems like it would be quite clumpy when I first took it out, but it actually looks really good on and my eyelashes look mega long! The only thing that I dislike is the brush is quite small so often I have to rotate it to get both sides of my lashes – but this could be because of the sample size!

Clarins – Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector

This is also a sample size product that I got from the same gift bag. I use this when I’m going out, and it really gives my lips a lovely shine. It doesn’t feel too heavy and does look lovely and natural. I think if I was going to get it again, I might try a different shade, as this is a bit light for me. But overall, another great buy, and it smells gorgeous.

So that’s it for my first entry! Hope you enjoyed it, and I’ll be back with another soon!
